Project Background
Located in a remote area of Mexico, this small mining site suffered from highly unstable grid power, frequent voltage sags and outages.
Those disturbances hit heavy mining equipment directly, causing large downtime losses. The original diesel generation was extremely costly and faced tightening environmental compliance pressure.
Solution
We built an integrated PV-storage-diesel microgrid combining new PV arrays, large-capacity energy storage containers and the site’s existing diesel generators.
An advanced EMS schedules the whole site: PV supplies priority power, storage smooths load fluctuations and performs peak shaving, and the diesel generators remain only as an extreme-case backup.
Project Advantages
- Guaranteed continuous production: Millisecond-level response solves the voltage sag problem, sharply reducing equipment faults and downtime losses.
- Lower LCOE: The PV and storage system now handles over 80% of the site’s electricity load, cutting diesel consumption by more than 70%.
- Green and low-carbon transition: Carbon emissions and noise pollution drop significantly, supporting the operator’s ESG targets.
Application Scenarios
Remote mining sites, industrial microgrids, islands and large commercial complexes.
